Certification Readiness
Expert guidance from gap assessment to certification audit — delivered by practitioners who have prepared real suppliers through national aerospace industrial development programs.
Why It Matters
AS9100 (design and manufacturing) and AS9110 (maintenance and repair) certification is not just another quality credential: it is the entry requirement for doing business with major OEMs and their Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. Without it, your company simply does not appear on the procurement radar of the global aerospace industry. With it, your organization is registered in the IAQG OASIS database — visible to sourcing teams across the entire sector.
For Latin American companies, certification is the difference between competing for high-value aerospace manufacturing and services contracts, or remaining confined to low-margin local markets. Aerospace supply chains are actively seeking geographic diversification — and Latin America offers cost, time-zone and talent advantages that only materialize with certification in hand. This is not a cyclical window: it is structural, driven by capacity shortages and supplier-diversification policies that will remain active for years — but it will fill with whoever certifies first.
Strategic Timing
The industry is in the midst of a regulatory shift: the IAQG will publish the new revision of the standard — rebranded IA9100 — toward the end of 2026, aligned with ISO 9001:2026, with a two-to-three-year transition period for certified organizations. Organizations that build a well-structured AS9100D system today will transition naturally to IA9100; those who improvise will pay the cost twice. Our program incorporates from the outset the elements the new revision emphasizes: demonstrable quality culture, counterfeit-part prevention with end-to-end traceability, human factors, and digital management of the system.
Who This Is For
Machining, composites, electronics, special processes — seeking to enter the aerospace supply chain.
Aircraft maintenance organizations seeking accreditation with international clients.
Already certified companies ready to step up to the aerospace standard.
Current defense-sector suppliers needing to formalize their management system for international programs.
The Program
Full assessment of your current management system against the applicable standard. Deliverable: a prioritized gap report and a realistic roadmap with efforts, owners and timelines.
Building or adjusting your quality management system documentation: policy, objectives, processes, procedures and work instructions — including aerospace-specific requirements (risk management, configuration management, counterfeit-part prevention, product safety, supplier management). We work with your team, not instead of your team, so the system lives in the organization.
Training for leadership and operational staff on the standard's requirements, internal auditor training, and support through your first internal audits.
Complete readiness audit, closure of nonconformities, guidance in selecting an accredited certification body, and support through Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits. Certification is granted by an independent accredited certification body of your choosing — our role is to ensure your organization walks into that audit ready to pass it.

Why GlobalADInsights
This program is not led by a generic consultant. It is delivered by a team with over 35 years of combined experience in the aerospace and defense industry, with a track record that uncommonly spans both sides of AS9100 certification:
From 2016 to 2020, led gap closure, implementation of the standard's requirements —integrated with the organization's other management systems— and their validation, through to CIAC's (Corporación de la Industria Aeronáutica Colombiana) AS9100 and AS9110 certification and the subsequent administration of the certified system. Earlier, at the Colombian Air Force, coordinated the Aeronautical Logistics process within its integrated management system and trained and served as an internal quality auditor. AS9100 Rev. D Lead Auditor.
Participated in Colombia’s national aerospace supplier-development programs sponsored by Colombia Productiva between 2019 and 2025, working with nearly 200 SMEs in the sector — assessing them against AS9100 requirements, industry best practices, and OEM and Tier supplier requirements.
Our team knows both sides of the standard: what it requires — because we have implemented, audited and sustained it inside real aerospace organizations — and what an aerospace buyer looks for when evaluating a new supplier — because we have assessed nearly 200 companies against exactly those requirements. That dual perspective is the difference between getting certified and becoming a supplier.
Duration & Investment
A typical readiness program runs six to twelve months, depending on your current management system maturity, the scope of certification, and internal team availability. The initial assessment defines the realistic timeline for your specific case. Investment is defined after the initial assessment based on your organization’s size and management maturity.
FAQ
No formal prerequisite. The aerospace standard includes all ISO 9001 requirements plus the aerospace-specific ones, so you can implement it directly. If you already have ISO 9001, the path is shorter.
AS9100 applies to organizations that design or manufacture products for the aerospace industry. AS9110 applies to maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organizations. AS9120 covers distributors. The initial assessment confirms which standard applies to your operation.
No — and be wary of anyone who promises otherwise. Certification is the entry condition: it makes you eligible and visible. Converting that eligibility into contracts requires genuine competitive capability. Our engagement includes guidance on how to present your organization to aerospace buyers.
AS9100D certifications remain valid, and there will be a two-to-three-year transition period once the new revision is published. Our program builds your system with the new revision's emphases incorporated from the start, so the transition is an adjustment, not a reconstruction.
We serve organizations across Latin America, in Spanish and English, through a combined model: structured remote work and on-site presence at the milestones that require it.

Market Entry Advisory
Whether you are entering Latin America or expanding from within it to global markets — we provide end-to-end advisory on procurement processes, capability positioning and market access for aerospace and defense organizations.
Why Latin America, Why Now
Latin America's aerospace and defense sector is undergoing a structural shift. Defense budgets across the region are expanding under modernization mandates, commercial aviation is recovering above pre-pandemic levels, and space programs in Colombia, Chile and Argentina are moving from aspiration to procurement. Post-pandemic supply chain restructuring is driving OEMs and Tier suppliers to actively seek geographic diversification — and Latin America's cost structure, time zone alignment with North America and Europe, and growing technical talent pool make it a credible destination.
At the same time, the most capable Latin American companies — those that have invested in quality systems, technical infrastructure and international certifications — are ready to compete beyond the region. The opportunity exists in both directions, but navigating it requires the same thing in either case: a deep understanding of how procurement processes actually work, what international buyers require from new suppliers, and how to present capabilities in terms that resonate with selection committees.
The Real Challenge
Most organizations — whether entering Latin America or competing internationally from within it — arrive with solid technical capabilities and limited intelligence about how procurement actually works in practice. They understand the macro picture but not the operational reality: how selection processes are structured, what evaluation criteria carry the most weight, what documentation and certifications are required at each stage, and how decisions move from technical evaluation to contract award. Our advisory fills exactly that gap — not with generic market data, but with 35+ years of direct team experience on both sides of these processes.
Who This Is For
Companies evaluating Latin America as a manufacturing base, a sourcing region, or a sales market for platforms, systems and components.
International defense firms navigating government procurement frameworks, offset obligations and direct commercial programs across Latin American defense institutions.
Investment funds and private equity firms evaluating A&D assets, supplier consolidation opportunities or sector-specific exposure in Latin American markets.
Latin American aerospace and defense companies ready to compete internationally — seeking to understand international procurement standards, certification requirements and how to position their capabilities to OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers.
How We Work
Structured analysis of procurement processes, evaluation frameworks and selection criteria in your target markets. We map how decisions are made at each stage — from technical qualification to contract award — and identify where your capabilities fit and what gaps need to be addressed before engaging. Deliverable: a prioritized market brief with entry scenarios and specific readiness requirements.
Definition of your entry mode (direct sales, distributor, joint venture, industrial partnership, offset program), sequencing and positioning adapted to the procurement culture of each target country. Includes an assessment of your technical and certification profile against what buyers in your segment actually require.
For international companies: guidance on how to present and package your capabilities to Latin American procurement evaluators. For Latin American companies: connection with OEM, Tier 1 and Tier 2 requirements through industry associations, sector networks and alliances with specialized partners in other countries and in offset program management.
Retained advisory for organizations actively pursuing contracts: bid preparation support, procurement process navigation, regulatory guidance and strategic counsel as opportunities develop. Monthly briefings and on-demand access to a senior advisor with direct knowledge of the processes you are navigating.

Why GlobalADInsights
There is no shortage of market reports on Latin America. What is scarce is a team that has spent decades inside the region's aerospace and defense ecosystem — not analyzing it from the outside, but participating directly in procurement processes, quality system implementation, supplier development and industrial policy. Our team brings over 35 years of combined operational experience across those disciplines, and engagements are staffed according to scope: the specialists involved depend on what the work requires.
Our team's experience spans both sides of procurement processes — structuring and executing them from within government and state-owned aerospace organizations, and preparing suppliers to compete in them. That gives us detailed knowledge of how evaluation committees work, what selection criteria carry weight at each stage, and what a supplier needs to demonstrate to advance from technical qualification to contract award. Our specialists cover procurement process analysis, quality systems and certification (AS9100/AS9110), market intelligence, and offset program management.
Through supplier development programs with more than 200 SMEs in Colombia's aerospace sector, our team understands in detail what OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers require from new sources — and how to close the gap between existing LATAM capabilities and those requirements. Combined with alliances with specialized partners in other countries and in offset program management, we connect capabilities to opportunities across the region.
Janes tells you what equipment a country operates. Aviation Week tells you what contracts were awarded. We tell you how selection processes work, what they evaluate, and how to position your organization to be taken seriously when the next one opens. That is the difference between market intelligence and procurement intelligence.
Duration & Investment
A market and procurement intelligence engagement typically runs six to twelve weeks. Retained advisory engagements are structured in six-month blocks with monthly deliverables. Investment is scoped to each engagement following the initial briefing, where we define objectives, countries and services required. The initial briefing call is complimentary.
FAQ
Our primary coverage spans Colombia, Chile, Peru, Argentina and Ecuador — markets with active aerospace and defense procurement and accessible regulatory frameworks. Brazil operates as a largely self-contained ecosystem and is generally outside our primary scope, though we can support specific engagements there through our partner network. The initial briefing establishes which countries are relevant for your objectives and where the highest-probability opportunities exist today.
No. We are an independent advisory firm. We do not take commissions on transactions, hold no exclusive arrangements with vendors, and have no financial interest in any sale or contract. Our role is to provide intelligence and advisory — the decisions and commercial relationships belong to our clients.
A market report tells you what the market looks like. Our advisory tells you how it works — specifically, how procurement processes are structured, what evaluation criteria apply at each stage, and what your organization needs to do to be competitive. That operational knowledge is not in any published report.
Contacts are valuable. What our advisory adds is process knowledge — understanding how procurement decisions are structured, what formal and informal evaluation criteria apply, and what a supplier needs to demonstrate at each stage to advance. That complements any existing relationships.
With a complimentary 45-minute briefing call. We discuss your objectives, your current position, and the markets or opportunities you are evaluating. By the end of the call you will have a clearer picture of what the path forward looks like and whether a full engagement makes sense. No commitment required.
